Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how PrawnTech Ltd. (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use DeScry (the “App”).
1) Who we are (Data Controller)
For users in the United Kingdom, PrawnTech Ltd. is the “data controller” of your personal data for the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2) What the App does
DeScry is a spiritual diary that lets you record and reflect on “signs” you sense. You can optionally share entries with other DeScry users or via third-party apps such as WhatsApp (and other share destinations available on your device).
3) Information we collect
3.1 Information you provide
- Diary content: text, notes, titles, tags, and any other content you type into the App (“Entries”).
- Shared content: content you choose to share with other users or externally.
- Support communications: information you include when you contact us (e.g., email address and message).
3.2 Information from your device and app use
We currently do not use advertising or third-party analytics SDKs in the App. We may still receive limited technical information that is necessary to operate the App and provide support, such as:
- Basic device/app information you share with us when reporting a problem (e.g., iOS version, device model).
- Crash or diagnostic information if you have enabled sharing of iOS diagnostics with Apple and it is made available to developers through Apple’s tools (where applicable).
3.3 Information we do not intentionally collect
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not run in-app ads.
- We do not use third-party analytics tracking within the App.
- We do not intentionally collect precise location data.
4) How we use your information
We use information for the following purposes:
- Provide the App’s features (e.g., storing and displaying your Entries; enabling sharing you request).
- Operate and maintain the App (e.g., troubleshooting, performance, security).
- Customer support (responding to your messages and resolving issues).
- Legal and safety reasons (to comply with applicable law, enforce our terms, or protect rights and safety).
5) Legal bases for processing (UK GDPR)
We process personal data under one or more of the following legal bases:
- Contract — where processing is necessary to provide the App to you.
- Legitimate interests — to operate, improve, and secure the App and provide customer support (balanced against your rights).
- Consent — where you choose to share content externally or enable optional device settings that provide diagnostics.
- Legal obligation — where we must comply with the law.
6) Sharing and disclosure
6.1 Sharing you control
The App allows you to share Entries with other DeScry users (if you choose) or externally via iOS sharing options (e.g., WhatsApp, Messages, email, social apps). When you share externally, the recipient and the third-party service you use will process the content under their own policies. We do not control how third parties handle content you share through them.
6.2 Service providers
We may use trusted service providers to help us operate the App (for example, hosting, email delivery, or support tooling). They are only permitted to process personal data on our instructions and where necessary to provide their services.
6.3 Legal requirements
We may disclose information if we reasonably believe it is necessary to comply with law, regulation, legal process, or a valid request from authorities, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of users, the public, or our business.
7) Your content and sensitive information
Diary Entries may include information you consider personal or sensitive (for example, beliefs, wellbeing reflections, or other intimate details). We recommend you avoid entering information you do not want stored or shared. Sharing is always your choice.
8) Data retention
We keep personal data only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, including to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. If you contact support, we may retain communications for a reasonable period to help address your request and maintain records.
9) Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information from unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10) International transfers
If we use service providers located outside the UK, your information may be processed in countries other than the UK. Where this happens, we will take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (for example, using UK-approved transfer mechanisms where required).
11) Your rights (UK)
Depending on your circumstances, you may have rights under UK data protection law, including:
- Access to your personal data
- Correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Deletion of personal data (in certain circumstances)
- Restriction of processing (in certain circumstances)
- Objection to processing (in certain circumstances)
- Data portability (in certain circumstances)
- Withdraw consent where we rely on consent
To exercise your rights, contact us at inbox@prawntech.com. We may need to verify your identity before responding.
12) Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to resolve your concern. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
13) Children
DeScry is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
14) Third-party services and links
The App may enable sharing or interactions with third-party services (such as WhatsApp) using iOS system features. Your use of third-party services is subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
15) Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and may provide additional notice within the App or through other appropriate means.
